True Blood - Main Title Sequence
Director of Photography
Produced by Digital Kitchen for HBO
For this dynamic opening sequence, Digital Kitchen brilliantly sourced a mix of original and archive material to create this spellbinding, phantasmic trip of Louisiana swamp culture. For production, we flew down to Louisiana with a small crew, an RV and an ambitious shot-list for (3) 20 hour days of controlled run and gun with HD, 16mm, and Super 8. To round things out, Digital Kitchen rented The Little Red Hen, a bar in Seattle, for some pick-ups. We staged the bar with some very talented dancers and patrons in a seedy wash of red haze.
“. . . amazing, hallucinatory opening montage."

“THE BEST thing about Alan Ball’s new vampire series True Blood... is the opening credits.”
— Los Angeles Times
“A woman writhes in black lingerie ... a preacher lays on hands ... a Venus flytrap snaps shut on a frog. It’s a fever dream of Eros wrestling Thanatos in the middle of a tent revival. Damn! I think. I want to see the show those titles are for.”
